With so many scandals…

it’s hard to pick your favorite one.  The Bush Administration has certainly set the bar high (low) for any future would-be corrupt executives.

Alberto Gonzales’s Justice Department has assumed responsibility for some of the most obvious and heinous abuses of power in recent memory.  But the one that takes the cake goes to the Administration’s systematic restructuring of the Department’s civil rights division to focus on alleged “voter fraud” cases and away from discrimination against minorities and women.  I mean it makes sense, right?  Minorities and women don’t vote for Republicans, so why should a Republic Justice Department look out for their Constitutional rights?  And what better way to enforce this country’s laws than to spend inordinate resources investigation shoddy claims of voter fraud, ultimately designed to suppress minority voting.

The Justice Department is broken on so many levels.  The worst part is the next administration will have to sift through every hire made in the last 6+ years to weed out the “loyal bushies” to bring some professionalism back to the concept of justice.
